Touring
Stone Temple Pilots — Spring 2010
Opened for STP again. Did SXSW and the midwest. It was our first time in Sioux City. We hung out with Dallas Clark (nice guy, but could really kick our asses if he wanted to). There may or may not have been a trip to a place called Teasers. Hung out with a dude named Shep a lot.
Modest Mouse, John Varvatos, and the Odyssey of 2009
Whilst recording our third record we had a bevy of cool shows. We opened for Modest Mouse in NYC, did a special show for John Varvatos at what once was CBGBs (now a clothing shop). That show had free whiskey. Not sure how/why the night ended. CMJ was fun. We did an artsy photoshoot before our showcase but never saw the pictures. Not sure if the dude was a real photographer. We opened for Art Brut in Boston. Those dudes were/are English.
Stone Temple Pilots and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club — Summer 2008 Opened for these bands during the summer of 2008 in the south and southeast. It was totally awesome. And the people liked us it seems. We ate a lot of fried chicken. Our bus broke down. We went to Disneyland while a hurricane went through Florida. Adrian bought a Wu-Tang sweatshirt. This was a sweet tour.
US Tour — Spring 2008 Did a headlining tour of the east, south and midwest, including some radio interviews, and a live television performance on Fox (Rupert didn’t show up). We did SXSW and opened for Moby’s band the Little Death. They were cool. Did a live acoustic set on DC101 in our nation’s capital.
Other Show Highlights — Sept 2008 to Jan 2009 We did an acoustic set for the Dave Hill Explosion in September that went well; VH1 covered it and really liked it. Plus we got to hang out with Dave Hill and Steve Guttenberg. We opened for Weiland’s solo band in Boston a couple times, including a sold out show at the Paradise. Did a live acoustic set on WBCN in December. Hardy, we love you. We played our friend Jonny’s film premier party at Webster Hall in NYC, and we recorded a Band in Boston podcast that has a cool T. Rex cover y’all should hear. Did a live set for Breakthru Radio too. They were friendly.
Recording History
Zoo Noises: (2010) Got some nice blog reviews on this one. Ken Andrews mixed some tracks (he’s a popular dude). After some convincing, Rolling Stone had us in their offices to play some tracks off of it. The performance was mentioned in the mag, streamed online and the tracks were included in their podcast. The singles even got some radio play. How about that! What’s a radio?
Long Weekend: (2008) Some bloggers love the shit out of this record; even NPR and the New Yorker got in on the act. And we made a sweet video for the single (thanks to Mikey Carlson; it even made mtvU’s video of the week).
Pulling Out Just Enough To Win: (2008) 3.5 stars in Rolling Stone; Popmatters enjoyed it too.
The 34% Louder EP: (2007) Rolling Stone didn’t seem to care about this one.
The XMass EP: (2007) Rolling Stone missed this one.
Other Fun Facts
Our music has appeared on such programs as Entourage (the HBO hit series with J.Piv), CSI:NY (the tough cop drama with none other than Gary Sinise), Sunset Daze (the Jersey Shore except old folks), ESPN (our tune is the theme to the page 2 podcast), and The Riches (a cool show on FX that has Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard)
Songs from Zoo Noises reached the top 10 in the specialty radio charts across the US and Canada. It’s true, we have the documentation.
Howard Stern and Robin Quivers have spun our tracks, and we even hosted our own Dean’s List episode on mtvU.
